The
Inch Women's Group produced an exhibition during International Women's
Day celebrations 2000.
The exhibition
came from ideas about childhood and parenthood and was developed
through group discussions, a photographic project, written exercises
and an exhibition project.
It consisted of
three spaces:
The first space
was a wall that introduced the women and the history and themes
of the exhibition.
The second was
a corridor. The two facing sides displayed portraits of children
with written material. There were hanging and suspended objects
such as children's toys.
The third space
was a recess leading to a a memory box which contained real objects
with tagged or printed material which developed our understanding
of both the objects and written material.
The exhibition met with
enthusiastic responses at venues around South Edinburgh including
Gilmerton Community Centre and Moredun Library.
