  Approaching
Dr Jackson's lab I could see some one already inside working. I waited a while
hoping that they would leave so I could get a closer look. I waited about an hour
before they left. When I was in the room there were lots of funny looking machines
I did not understand. Looking through some papers, but none of it was making sense.
I tried to think what to do. I could not take any papers away. Looking around
to see if there was anything else I could find that would make sense to me. But
found nothing. Then I heard footsteps approaching the lab. Had to find somewhere
to hid. Found a door that was open. Just went in. It was dark. Had the feeling
that some one was watching me. It seemed as if I was in the room for a while -
hoping it was a room. Then I heard voices but could not make out what they were
saying. Everything went quiet. So I waited until it was clear to come out. Went
back to the 'King and Queen" thats where I am staying at this moment.
The next day I went back to the lab. Dr Jackson
asked, "What was it that you wanted to show me?" To my surprise
he had changed his mind as the experiment was a failure. But I did not believe
that for one moment. For one his action changed. He was not the Dr Jackson that
I had known.
While I was in the lab I came across the door
that I was in, but this time the door was locked. I asked the the doctor what
was behind the door. He said it was just an old storage room nothing of interest
to me. And would I leave. But what was he really up to? I had to find out.
Having a drink and a chat with the barman.
Asking if he knew Dr Jackson well and what the people in the village were like.
If he knew what was going on, he would not say anything about Dr Jackson
but the village people were frightened about something but he did not know what
or want to get involved.
The next thing a young girl came bursting
in screaming, "It happened again!" I asked what has happened
again, but could not get anything out of her. She was in shock and dazed. I went
outside to see what had happened, and right enough there were clothes lying about
the place. There was no ID on them just bones and clothes. I thought to myself,
we must get to the bottom of this, so I went back in to finish my drink and asked
the girl a couple of questions about what had just happened, but still I did not
get anything out of her. I then went to my room to get a few things. I lay on
the bed a while just trying to put pieces together but I came to nothing. But
this time I had to do something about it.
The next morning went to the lab to see Dr
Jackson but he was not there, so it gave me a chance to see what was happening.
I looked through papers but found nothing. I put everything back to its place
just then Dr Jackson walked in. He asked me why I was there and I was going to
answer him when another Dr Jackson came in! I just looked at both of them, saying
to myself, "Which is the real one? If one of them is Dr Jackson!"
By this time I had to sit down and think what to say. I just could not believe
what I was seeing. I asked which one was the real Dr Jackson and one of them stepped
forward and started to laugh. "Got you," he said, "This
was what I wanted to show you the first time you came but it did not work because
I had the wrong formula but now I have found one that works. What do you think
of that?"
I thought he was mad, but I did not say that
to him. He sat down at his desk and pulled open a drawer which had a box which
was locked. "Thats where the formula is." And in the cupboard
that was locked he had two big fridges where he kept the bodies of the village
people that were going missing. By this time I had to do something to stop this
madness of his. He just did not care about the village people and their families
as long as his experiment was completed with a good result. I tried to reason
with him but getting nowhere fast. The had became obsessed with his work. I told
him he had become a murderer of the village people and that he was out of his
mind and that he had to stop this madness at once or I will go to the police.
Then we had a fight, knocking things and breaking
chairs and tables. After the fight was over he told me, "I thought with
you being a scientist that you would understand my work. I was going to ask you
if you would like to be a partner in my work, but I do not think so now. You were
my best friend but now I do not want anything to do with you and get out".
