My Grandparents

My late mother told us stories about my grandparents when we were little children.
    My grandmother was a native of Leith and lived in Newhaven fishing town. She was a strong-willed woman. She was a very attractive woman with auburn hair.
    My grandmother was employed as a fishmonger. My grandfather went regularly to the fishmonger shop to buy some fish, occasionally talking with her. He fancied her and fell in love with her. They were married in a Registry Office.
    They decided to leave Edinburgh and moved to an isolated and quiet, small village, Thornhill, between Dunblane and Doune and settled down there. She had borne six children. They found out that three of the six children were deaf and the rest of them were hearing. They were very devastated over the three deaf children and clashed with each other.  
  My grandfather loaded the cart with goods and travelled around the country to sell the goods to the villagers who wanted to buy goods. He ran his business successfully but he worked very hard and long hours and frequently came home very late. They left Thornhill and moved to Doune and soon settled down there.
